The individuals that have registered on this website have agreed to work for another type of money. They have a wide range of skills and abilities that they exchange between each other for a system of credits. These are not old-fashioned notes and coins, but rather electronic money like that found on a cash card. All of the "money" on this site starts life as a "grant" to a good cause from the local area. This is then spent by the causes (mostly charities and community groups) instead of their real money, so this can be used for other important things. The people who help these causes can then spend the credits they have earned with anyone else on the scheme. It is free to join, tax free, VAT free and will not affect any state entitlements. Anyone can use Scunnymoney.
This is not a new idea, it is based on existing alternative currency schemes such as timebanks and LETS. there are approximetely 600 schemes like it in the uk, and about 3,500 around the world.
